VIENNA - The Grand Pointe Conference Center was chosen as the Best Banquet Facility in The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Readers' Choice Survey.
"We're thrilled, we're absolutely thrilled. It's very exciting to be recognized by the public. We want to and strive to become the best banquet and conference center that the Mid-Ohio Valley has to offer." said Cindy Auvil, food and beverage director for Grand Pointe.
The Grand Pointe Conference Center, located at 1500 Grand Central Avenue in Vienna, celebrated its third anniversary at the beginning of October.
"We're still in the new, baby stages, but we have a lot to offer here at Grand Pointe," she said.
Grand Pointe features state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, wireless internet, drop-down screens, and other services throughout the center.
"We're really built for that corporate destination as well," Auvil said.
The facility also features a full state-of-the-art kitchen for on-site food and beverage production and that is something Auvil wants people to know.
"It's a big misconception in the community that it's a catered property. That's incorrect. We do have a full state-of-the-art kitchen that was designed by our chef and we have a full crew of waiters and kitchen crew. All of the wait staff has been with us since construction, so we're very proud of that." Auvil said.
Grand Pointe can do an extensive menu of plated meals, buffet meals, and other options, either from its pre-planned menus or working with clients to prepare specific menus, she said.
Grand Pointe's main ballroom has seating available for 400 to 550, based on whether round tables or banquet tables are used, and there is an inlaid dance floor. The ballroom can be divided into three separate spaces of various sizes, depending on the user's needs.
There is also an executive suite with seating up to 50 at the front of the center for smaller meetings.
"It's a smaller room, a little more intimate for those smaller numbers," she said.
Auvil said Grand Pointe has received a wonderful response from the community since opening three years ago. Weddings are one of the most popular uses of the facility and the only thing keeping Grand Pointe from booking more weddings is the lack of more Saturdays in the month she said.
Grand Pointe also sees a lot of convention business at the center, from social and group events to commercial, industrial, governmental, educational, training and others.
"We've seen a great response from the community," she said.
Auvil said the facility also likes to work with programs in the community. As an example, Grand Pointe donates the use of its facility and personnel for the annual Steak and Burger Night by the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg.
Grand Pointe is locally owned by The PM Company of Vienna.
In addition to the individually scheduled programs, Auvil said Grand Pointe offers a "Dinner of the Month" program anyone can attend, which features four-course dinners paired with wines. For more information, contact the center at 304-295-7007 or online at www.grandpointecenter.com.
